Earthwatch Lecture – 8 May 2008

'Ghanaian Communities & Conservation'Thursday, 7.00pm - 8.30pm, at the Royal Geographical Society, 1 Kensington Gore, London SW7 2AR. John Mason & Prof. Patrick Ofori Danson.

Two talks on Earthwatch's work with the Nature Conservation Research Centre of Ghana (NCRC) to develop research and conservation projects to the benefit not only of the environment, but also the livelihoods of the local populations through community- based ecotourism. John Mason, Executive Director of the NCRC, will give an historical overview of this programme, its scope and its achievements, while Dr. Patrick Ofori Danson, of the University of Ghana, will specifically tell us about his work on the West African manatees still to be found in Ghanaian waters.
